Chamber Singers auditioning new members; returning to Carnegie Hall

The Chamber Singers of Southeast Iowa will be holding auditions on Thursday evening for its 2019-20 season.
The group invites experienced singers to join and be a part of a group that values excellence and the commitment and dedication to achieve it. A fun-loving and hard-working group, the Chamber Singers share their joy of singing with the Fairfield community through twice-yearly concerts and continue to grow musically year after year.
The Chamber Singers are auditioning now so that new members will have the opportunity to participate in the group's next Carnegie Hall adventure in New York City.
The group established a reputation for excellence at its Carnegie Hall debut in January 2017, and in 2019 the Chamber Singers received five invitations from various organizations to join other Carnegie Hall projects. One was to sing an entire Ola Gjeilo program with the composer himself as accompanist. Others included singing the music of Dan Forrest and Sir Karl Jenkins, two acclaimed contemporary composers. The opportunity that the Chamber Singers accepted is to sing the Kim André Arnesen Magnificat in April 2020, at the personal invitation of the composer himself, and under the direction of world-renowned St. Olaf Choral director Anton Armstrong.
The Chamber Singers are honored to participate in such a remarkable concert and educational opportunity.
This Carnegie Hall performance would be in addition to the ongoing annual concert commitments of the group, so not every singer will elect to attend, but all Chamber Singers have the option to participate.
