The Chamber Singers of Southeast Iowa will present its annual holiday concerts this year at 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church in Fairfield.
Now in its 23rd year of performing, the Chamber Singers are known for ushering in the holiday season with beautiful and unique arrangements of both traditional and rarely performed choral works. This year?s show will be bigger and better than ever and is sure to fill everyone with the holiday spirit.
Special guest artists Nancy Gaub and Lauryn Shapter on violin, Lise Marcell on piano, Francis Thicke on trumpet, Art Atkinson on recorder and Bob Miller on djembe will lend their talents in accompanying the Chamber Singers? performance.
This year?s program reaches across history, from the Renaissance to modern day; across countries and cultures, from Africa to Europe and America; and across a range of musical styles. Songs capturing the joy, hope, peace and reverence inspired by the season will be balanced by songs of celebration, feasting, humor and lighthearted fun. These songs also embody beautiful harmonies, dynamic rhythms, and a wide diversity of musical architectures and contrasting styles ? in short, something for everyone.
?Every year, the holiday season opens doors for greater fulfillment and light in our lives,? said Elaine Reding, musical director of the Chamber Singers. ?Each year, we feel fortunate to share such beautiful and inspiring musical gems with everyone. We look forward to presenting these concerts as a gift to our wonderful community, and we invite everyone to come enjoy this holiday journey with us.?
For more information, call Reding at 472-1539. A free-will donation at the door will be much appreciated by the Chamber Singers.
