Chapter C PEO of Fairfield has successfully sponsored two outstanding women for scholarships.
Lauren Kraemer of Fairfield, attending UNI, and Elyssa Graber, a recent graduate of WACO, were selected to receive scholarships from the PEO sisterhood.
Lauren received a $6500 Evelyn Beckman advancement award. Each applicant must demonstrate academic excellence, maturity, a degree in special education, speech or hearing and a seriousness of purpose.
Elyssa Graber received the highly competitive STAR scholarship for $2500. This scholarship is for women who exhibit excellence in leadership, academics, extracurricular activities, community service, and potential future success. 1,146 STAR scholarships were awarded nationally.
The PEO sisterhood was founded in Mount Pleasant, Iowa in 1869 and has been celebrating women helping women for more than 155 years. The nonprofit international organization has helped more than 129,000 women pursue educational goals by providing $453 million in grants, scholarships, awards, and loans.
