Chapter L of T.T.T. meets in Olds

STATE CROSS COUNTRY MEET
The State Cross Country Meet was held at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge, IA on Saturday, October 29, 2022.
Emma Wilkerson, a junior at Center Point-Urbana High School placed 14th out of 135 runners. The team placed 10th out 15 teams, a first in school history.
She is the daughter of Doug and Carrie Wilkerson of Center Point and the granddaughter of Doug and Carol Steele of Crawfordsville and Dick and Linda Wilkerson of Mt. Pleasant.
CHAPTER L T.T.T.
Chapter L T.T.T. pf the National Honor Society members met Monday, October 24, 2022 at 7 p.m. at the Olds United Church of Christ. The meeting opened with the singing of the Sword of Gold.
Eight members answered roll call telling their favorite holiday.
The minutes of the September 26, 2022 meeting were approved as read by Nancy McGohan.
President Shelman shared a message out of "Tidbits & Tales" from the State President Barb Brown, notifying the group of the date for the State Convention, April 21 & 22. They are looking for individuals who would like to serve on the National Executive or Project Board. Positions open are Parliamentarian and State organizer.
Missy Fear shared notes from members unable to be present.
The Treasurer's report was given by Missy Fear and will be filed for audit.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Audit: Joan Rodgers and Karolyn Crawford reviewed the books and found them in good order.
Camp: President Shelman shared a couple of names that could be potential campers next year and she reported she had purchased a couple of beach towels.
Charity: Missy Fear reported two Thanksgiving cards, as well as gift cards had been sent.
Camp Girls' Gifts: Pat Miller reported Birthday cards had been sent in August, September and October.
Ways and Means: Karolyn Crawford shard that since the Bazaar won't be held, donations will be accepted in its place. She had been following up on a fundraising opportunity, but was still waiting for a return call. Joan Rodgers will be following up on this prior to the next meeting.
UNFINISHED?OLD BUSINESS: President Shelman had correspondence in regards to the chapter's by-laws that were submitted. National eliminated the position of Historian, therefore suggesting a word change. This Chapter feels this is an office they want to keep, so a motion was made, seconded and passed to do so.
NEW BUSINESS: Betty Molander shared that member Kat will be participating in the T.T.T. tour of homes.
BILLS FOR PAYMENT: None
PROPOSAL OF NAMES FOR MEMBERSHIP: None.
Installation of Officers took place: The new slate is: President; Barb Shelman; Vice President: Joan Rodgers; Recording Secretary: Nancy McGohan; Treasurer: Missy Fear; Historian: Karolyn Crawford; Parliamentarian: Joan Rodgers and Corresponding Secretary: Missy Fear.
ADJOURNMENT: President Shelman thanked those who attended. The Chapter will carpool to the next meeting, which is a game nite with the Wayland Chapter, with the date to be determined.
A card was passed to be signed for member Pat Miller, who had surgery recently.
The meeting adjourned with the Closing Creed.
Following the meeting pumpkin bars were served by President Shelman.
HALLOWEEN PARTY
An annual Halloween tradition of a Costume Party sponsored by the Crawfordsville American Legion and organized by the Crawfordsville Community Club was enjoyed Monday evening, October 31, 2022 at the Crawfordsville Fire Station. The event began at 5:30 p.m. and fifty or more children ranging from infants to 7th grade and a few brave and entertaining adults were judged. Each age group or class were judged for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. place for best costumes. It was a very enjoyable event that everyone looks forward to each year and all the spectators, ranging from parents, grandparents and friends had a good time and enjoyed refreshments of donuts and milk afterward.
Overall winner of best costume was Lucy Carter in 1st. grade and the daughter of Alex and Esther Carter who was the Ice Queen, Evil Elizabeth.
