Chapter L of T.T.T. Society meets in Olds

On Sunday, June 13, Chapter L of T.T.T. Society members met at the Olds United Church of Christ. President Barb Shelman called the meeting to order and opened the meeting with the group singing the Sword of Gold.
Preceding the meeting a camp shower was held for Savannah Harris and Layla Wolfe who will be attending Crooked Creek Christian Camp this year. Their mothers were also in attendance. The girls received new clothing, shoes and all the supplies needed for camp. Refreshments of ice cream and cookies were served.
After the shower eight members answered roll call with "What is the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning?"
Minutes: President Shelman read the May 24, 2021 minutes which were approved with no additions or corrections.
Correspondence: A get-well card will be sent to Tammy Erwin from the Chapter in regard to her recent accident and prayers for a speedy recovery.
Save the Date--Saturday, October 23 the National Convention will be held via webinar. Registration and more information will be available after July 1.
Treasurer's Report: Treasurer Missy Fear reported the latest balances.
Committee Reports: Camp: The girls are excited and ready to go. All items of clothes, shoes, etc. have been washed and packed . Barb and Nancy will take the girls to camp on Sunday, June 27 and the parents will pick them up on Friday, July 2. They will give their camp report at the July 26 meeting.
Charity and Camp Girls' Gifts: Nothing to report.
Ways and Means: Several members were able to go to Unc & Neph's in Washington on the T.T.T. tip night. Karolyn will be in contact with them about picking up their donation.
Old Business and New Business and Bills for payment : Nothing to report.
Adjournment: President Shelman thanked those who attended. The next meeting will be Monday, July 26 at the Olds United Church of Christ at 7 p.m. Savannah and Layla will give their camp report. Founders Day Ceremony will be held. Roll call will be "Your Favorite thing at the Fair."
The meeting adjourned with the "Closing Creed."
Lowe family reunion
Wayne and Deb were hosts to the descendants of the late Clarance and Nina Lowe at a family reunion at the United Church of Crawfordsville on Sunday, June 13, 2021.
An interesting side note: Clarance Lowe was born March 12, 1880 and died November 13, 1967 and Nina Bolon was born May 10, 1884 and passed August 5, 1956.
Those in attendance were: Neil and Betty Ann Miller Haars of Shalamar, Florida, Rich and Peg Miller Twait of Winona, Minnesota., representing the Don and Maxine Lowe Miller family; Phyllis Lowe Eisele of Washington and friend, Alaire George of Waterloo; Mary Lowe Fabian of Iowa City, Linda Lowe Alvine and husband, Gene of Loveland, Colorado.; Don Lowe of Cedar Rapids and Larry Lowe and wife, Tammy of Crawfordsville, members of the Lyle "Dude" and Marie Lowe family; Larry and Donna Fletcher of Crawfordsville; Steve and Pam Green of Washington, Brad and Carol Fletcher of Cedar Falls and Kathy and Mick Garris of Winfield, represented the Cleo and Arlene Lowe Fletcher family; the Betty Lowe McCoy and Cleo McCoy family: Robyn and Bob Lamb of Washington, Lorna McCoy of Iowa City and Craig McCoy and wife, Karen of Crawfordsville; Mike Lowe and wife, Tammy of Brea, California, son of Robert and Nita Lowe and the hosts, Wayne and Deb Lowe, representing the Earl and Ina Mae Lowe family.
The group enjoyed a bountiful meal, delicious desserts and fun visiting, picture taking, stories, whoppers and laughter.
Lions club
The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday, June 14, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. at the Crawfordsville Community Room with fourteen present.
Lion President Mike Massey called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. Lion Secretary Nancy Love gave the invocation. After a delicious meal prepared and served by Alice Hochstetler, the meeting reconvened. The minutes of the May 24 meeting were approved as read. The treasurer gave his report.
Correspondence: A thank you note from Lions Clubs International Foundation trustee Nancy Slack was read for the monetary donation made to the entity. Another letter from Lion Slack was read asking club's to increase their donations to the Campaign 100 cause. The goal of LCIF is to raise $300 million by the end of June 2022. So far, over $200 million has been raised.
Old Business: The Blood Drive on Monday, June 7 was a success with 45 units of blood being given, including eight double reds, surpassing the goal of 41 units. Crawfordsville Fun Days are coming up July 9 and 10. The club will be serving a noon lunch from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Fire Station. This will be a sit-down meal. The menu will consist of pork burgers, hot dogs, baked beans, chips, lemonade and tea. It was decided to prepare 100 pork burgers, 30 hot dogs and baked beans for 120 people. Two cooler jugs of lemonade and one of tea will be prepared. Cooking will begin at 9 a.m. Lion Randy will take care of getting groceries and paper products. A set fee will be charged .
It was decided that Crawfordsville Fun Days would take the place of a second meeting in June. Lion Secretary Nancy will send out cards at the end of June reminding Lions of this fund-raiser. All club members are urged to participate.
