Chapter NZ of P.E.O. hold March meeting, install officers
Chapter NZ of the P.E.O. Sisterhood met for their regular meeting on Monday, March 27, 2017, in the home of Karen Wenstrand with Kathie McWhirter, Melissa Peitz, Vicky Bergstrom, and Elizabeth Graber serving as co-hostesses. President, Betty Lowe, presided at the 1 p.m. business meeting with 31 members and one guest, Marcia Wiedemeier from Chapter HU, of Burlington, present.

Chapter NZ of the P.E.O. Sisterhood met for their regular meeting on Monday, March 27, 2017, in the home of Karen Wenstrand with Kathie McWhirter, Melissa Peitz, Vicky Bergstrom, and Elizabeth Graber serving as co-hostesses. President, Betty Lowe, presided at the 1 p.m. business meeting with 31 members and one guest, Marcia Wiedemeier from Chapter HU, of Burlington, present.
Chaplain Carole Lauger read the scripture and Recording Secretary, Jan Lange, read the minutes from the previous meeting. Corresponding Secretary, Jean Thomson shared contents of the yearly reports recently returned, and an invitation from Burlington reciprocity regarding a P.E.O. Founders? Day buffet brunch on May 6. She also shared thank you notes for several chapter contributions including the International Peace Scholarship for the Partners in Peace student scholarship.
Ways and Means chairman, Kathy Schimmelpfennig, introduced three new items Chapter NZ has for sale. They include a black wristlet purse and a gold wristlet purse, both embossed with the letters P.E.O. and a sparkly, black, charm wristlet. B and B chairman, Joyce Dennison, told of luncheons and B and B visits scheduled. Members will be contacted with requests for service and food.
Memory rooms? chairman, Liz Garrels shared about remodeling being done in preparation for the upcoming tour season. Treasurer Sara Titus gave the second reading of the 2017-2018 budget and the budget was then voted upon favorably.
Vice President Lana Moeller and incoming Vice President Connie Geiser passed around membership lists, hostess and co-hostess, program, and committee sign-ups for the new year. Moeller announced that the next regular meeting of Chapter NZ, with initiation, will be April 24, 2017, at 1 p.m., in the home of Kay Denning.
President, Betty Lowe shared the new tabletop poster for the ?150 FUND?, which is a sesquicentennial celebration fundraiser. The poster will be on display at each regular meeting and members will be encouraged to contribute to the fund. The fundraiser will take donations through Aug. 1, 2019, and will be divided three ways after the sesquicentennial convention in Des Moines.
Prior to installation of new officers for the 2017-2018 year, Chris McCormick was elected to serve as guard. Past president of international chapter, Elizabeth Garrels, installed officers. New officers are: President, Lana Moeller; Vice President, Connie Geiser; Recording Secretary, Jan Lange; Corresponding Secretary, Jean Thomson; Treasurer, Deb Mascarenas; Chaplain, Lea McCormick; and Guard, Chris McCormick.
At the close of the meeting, the co-hostesses served refreshments, which were in celebration of Vicky Bergstrom?s upcoming birthday.
