Chapter NZ of the P.E.O. talk upcoming Iowa State Convention in Des Moines, June luncheon
Chapter NZ of the P.E.O. Sisterhood met for their regular meeting on Monday, April 25, 2016, at the Union Block meeting room with Elizabeth Garrels, Brenda McCabe, Jan Lange, Chris Prellwitz and Christine Broeg serving as co-hostesses.
Garrels shared that in June of 1869, five of the P.E.O. founders graduated from Iowa Wesleyan University on the third floor of the Union Block building.

Chapter NZ of the P.E.O. Sisterhood met for their regular meeting on Monday, April 25, 2016, at the Union Block meeting room with Elizabeth Garrels, Brenda McCabe, Jan Lange, Chris Prellwitz and Christine Broeg serving as co-hostesses.
Garrels shared that in June of 1869, five of the P.E.O. founders graduated from Iowa Wesleyan University on the third floor of the Union Block building.
President Betty Lowe presided at the business meeting with 30 members and one guest, Pat Jones, from Chapter GT, in Winfield, present. Chaplain, Carole Lauger shared scripture and recording secretary, Lange read the minutes from the March meeting. The corresponding secretary, Jean Thomson read a letter from the Iowa Chapter president concerning questions that may be asked and answered at the convention, and shared that she received back the copies of the annual reports for the treasurer and the corresponding secretary for the chapter files.
Vice president, Lana Moeller passed out the new yearbooks and the updated membership directories. She announced that the next meeting will be Monday, May 23, at 1 p.m., in the home of Sara Titus. Initiation will be held.
Sister Love membership co-chairman, Garrels, reported that plans are in place for a road trip to the Iowa State Convention, in Des Moines, on Saturday, June 4. Members will attend part of the business meeting and the Project?s Luncheon.
A spring-cleaning day was also held on Thursday, April 28, at 9 a.m., at the Old Main memory rooms. A second cleaning day will be held in July.
B and B chairman, Joyce Dennison, shared with members the B and B reservations and about an upcoming luncheon on June 16. Volunteers will be needed. Iowa P.E.O. Project Fund co-chairman, Carolyn Reid, reported that the committee is researching possible fund recipients.
Treasurer Titus presented the 2016-2017 budget, which passed unanimously. The chapter also voted to give the budgeted gift to Iowa Wesleyan University at this time so that a matching contribution, active until May 30, could be secured.
Under other business, the proposed amendment that will be presented at the convention for a change in the Iowa State Chapter by-laws was discussed.
President Lowe and vice president Moeller, thanked Garrels for printing and putting together the 2016-2017 yearbook, and Lange, Dennison, and Janet Roederer for printing and putting together the updated P.E.O. Membership Directory.
At the close of the meeting, the co-hostesses served refreshments.
