Chapter NZ P.E.O. holds regular meeting Monday

Chapter NZ of the P. E. O. Sisterhood met for their regular meeting on Monday, Oct. 22, in the home of Karen Brimhall with Jan Rankin, Kathie McWhirter, Melissa Peitz, Waunita Hobbie, Patti McClure and Gayle Trede serving as co-hostesses. President Lana Moeller presided at the 1 p.m. business meeting with 26 members present.
Chaplain LeaMcCormick shared the scripture. Recording secretary Jan Lange read the minutes from the previous meeting. Treasurer Deb Mascarnas gave the financial report. Correspondence was read by secretary Jean Thomson.
Joyce Dennison, B&B chairman, announced that she has B&B cookbooks available. The cookbook was complied and printed by Connie and Phil Geiser.
Henry County sesquicentennial committee chairman Liz Garrels announced that plans were progressing for the 150th birthday celebration on Jan. 1, 2019. The schedule of events and invitations have been printed.
The next tip night fundraiser will be Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Pizza Ranch in Mt. Pleasant. Members are encouraged to bring family and friends for dinner that evening.
At the close of the business meeting, Betty Lowe presented a program sharing tips on leadership in P.E.O. Seven members present have served as president of Chapter NZ. She concluded by encouraging members to be willing to serve in a leadership capacity and sharing the words from international president Sue Baker: 'With gratitude and grace, lean forward.”
Refreshments of ice cream-filled cupcakes were served by the hostess and co-hostesses.
The next meeting of the chapter will be the annual fall dinner of the Henry County chapters at Iowa Wesleyan University on Monday, Oct. 29. Registration and social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m., with dinner following at the Howe Activity Center at 6 p.m.
The next regular meeting of the Chapter NZ P.E.O. will be Monday, Dec. 10, for a luncheon at the Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club at noon. Reservations are to be made by contacting Geiser. A business meeting will follow the luncheon. Co-hostesses for the meeting are Lynn Graf, Bev Alderson, Lea McCormick, Kimn Hassenfritz, Christine Broeg and Chris Prellwitz. The theme for the day will be ”Celebrating! 35 years for Chapter NZ!”
