Chapter NZ of the P.E.O. Sisterhood met for their regular meeting on Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, in the home of Joyce Dennison with Lea McCormick, Chris Prellwitz and Kadie Dennison serving as co-hostesses. President Betty Lowe presided at the business meeting with 31 members present.
Reports from several committees were given including Elizabeth Garrels, chairman of the Old Main Memory Rooms, stating that the Iowa Wesleyan University?s Homecoming will be the last weekend in September and that the memory rooms will be open for touring on Saturday, Sept. 26.
Joyce Dennison, B and B chairman, reported having several guests and dinners. She thanked members for helping and providing food. There will be guests for the Midwest Old Threshers Reunion and for I.W.U. Homecoming. Members are to call if they wish to help.
It was reported that Star Scholarship applicants are in the process of getting together letters of recommendation and are proceeding with the steps to submit their applications. Jan Lange passed around a sample membership directory, asking members to supply correct and updated information. The directory, which will include all P.E.O.?s in the three Mt. Pleasant chapters, will be printed in late September.
Vice president, Lana Moeller reported that on Sunday, Sept. 13, will be a BIL picnic potluck. It will be held at 5 p.m., at the Elizabeth and Rich Garrels? home. Barbecue pulled pork sandwiches and drinks will be provided. Table service will also be provided. Members are asked to bring a side dish to share. Members and guests are also asked to R.S.V.P. by Sept. 10.
At the close of the meeting, Sheila Allender, from Sheila?s Catering, shared with members the program, ?Our Inner Hostess?. She showed several ideas for appetizers and their presentation.
Her best advice for entertaining is to plan ahead with prior preparation and to keep the menu simple. Members enjoyed the samplings of appetizers.
The next regular meeting will be held Monday, Sept. 28, in the home of Brenda McCabe, with Jan Lange, Becky Kauffman and Lea Bradley serving as co-hostesses. The program will be ?Re-envisioning a Better Tomorrow? by Cynthia Rankin Rauschert, Chapter X, of Bushnell, Ill.
