Charles H. Schafer Jr., 90, of rural Birmingham, died at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at his home in the Kilbourne community southwest of Birmingham.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Bernie Weir officiating. The body has been cremated. Private burial of the cremains will follow the service.
Family visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Charles H. Schafer Jr., 90, of rural Birmingham, died at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at his home in the Kilbourne community southwest of Birmingham.

Mr. Schafer was born May 4, 1919, in Stuart, the son of Charles H. and Catherine Hawkins Schafer. He married Kathryn Ramsey Oct. 20, 1943, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield.
