N/A
May. 29, 2019 3:00 pm
The Chilcote Questers met at Linda Gonshorowski's home Thursday, May 2.
Roll call was answered by 10 members and no guests. Minutes of the April meeting were read and approved on motion of Marilyn, second Joann. A treasurer's report showed a balance of $1,253.23. A thank you from Terrace Hill was received for the donation to that group.
Items related to antique books for the Washington Public Library, originally the Chilcote Library, were discussed including book plates, a book choice committee, and a reminder to visit the Patsy Wilson bookplate display at the library. Virginia McCurdy, Marj Lins, and Jackie Ross were selected to choose new books to be added to the Quester shelves. A motion to spend approximately $250 on new books was made by McCurdy, second Wendy and carried.
A group trip for June 2 will begin at 1 p.m., at Phyllis Eisele's home, followed by a stop at Ross's home, where Kathleen Almelien also will have a display of baskets. The third stop will be at Marilyn Klise's apartment and meeting room, where she and Lins will have displays and refreshments.
Two state 4-H grants have come back to Washington County and have been assigned to the Washington County Historical Society. 4-H'ers displaying at the State Fair can earn the grants and then are asked to pass the grants on to their home county for use in a preservation project.
Levy will reapply for a $2,000 Casino mini-grant to use at Conger House; grants will be announced in July 2019.
Wendy Langan then spoke on Goebel ‘Friar Tuck' monks, showing her mother's collection of the monks. These were functional kitchen items including salt and pepper shakers, sugar bowls, creamers and other items created by the Goebel Company in Germany, which was the primary producer of Hummel figurines. Levy served lemon pound cake with fresh blueberries to finish the evening.
