Christmas comes to Crawfodsville

Please note for those who didn't receive the amended version regarding the next meeting of the Wyman Club, the club will meet on Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, at 11:30 a.m. at Ainsworth Four Corners.
Nine members attended the 11:30 a.m. luncheon of the White Cloud Club at the home of Jolene Colthurst on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018.
President Margaret Patterson opened the meeting with a reading about the history of Poinsetta's. Roll called was answered by everyone telling their Christmas plans.
Pat Miller, secretary, read last month's minutes and also gave the treasurer's report.
Members enjoyed their annual Cookie and Gift Exchange.
Attending were Frieda Finke, Joyce Huff, Betty Lintz, Betty Lucas, Pat Miller, Margaret Patterson, Pauline Richardson, Shannon Sells and the hostess, Jolene.
The club will not meet in January. The next meeting is Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019, at 11:30 a.m. at Ainsworth Four Corners. Virginia Sands will be hostess and roll call will be to wear red.
The Crawfordsville Wednesday Study Club met at the United Church of Crawfordsville's Fellowship Hall on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018 at 11 a.m. for a delicious Christmas brunch prepared by hostesses Janice Twinam, Clarissa Malmberg and Maxine Martin. The table was appropriately decorated in a red and white Christmas theme centered on a beautiful crèche an Christmas bouquet. Thirteen members were present.
Following the brunch, President Clarissa Malmberg led the flag salute and club collect. Several book briefs were shared. The minutes and treasurer's report were read and approved. Paper products were collected and will be delivered to Lending Hands in Washington. Roll call was answered by each bringing an ornament to exchange.
There will be no January meeting. The February 20, 2019 meeting will be held at the Washington Hills Bank at 2 p.m. A guest speaker, Jill Boileau, will help everyone 'Explore Support Groups for Mental Health.” There also will be election of officers for the 2019-20 year.
'Exploring Christmas Ornaments” was led by Linda Wiltfang. She gave some interesting information about the origins of Christmas trees, decorating, traditions, customs and ornaments. With the wrapped ornaments everyone brought, a fun dice game was played as a way of sharing gifts with each other. Once the game was over the gifts were unwrapped and each showed the ornament they had received.
Twenty-two were in attendance for the annual Christmas dinner of the Crawfordsville Lions held Friday evening, Dec. 7, 2018 at the Thirsty Camel. Attending were Darrell and Mary Egli, Randy Finke, Larry and Donna Fletcher, David Jewell, Gene and Betty Lintz, Larry and Nancy Love, Mike and Shirley Massey, Gene and Pat Miller, Lance Miller, Adam Mitchell, Billie Jo Rose, Loree and Ken Stogdill, Larry and Barb Swailes and Mindy Wilson.
The annual Lions Christmas drawing will be held on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, at 1:30 p.m. at the Crawfordsville Fire Station. The Crooked Creed 4-H Club will have a bake sale at 12:30 p.m. and Santa will arrive at 1 p.m., preceding the drawing.
Christmas caroling will be held on Sunday evening, Dec.16. Everyone is to meet at the church at 5 p.m. After caroling everyone will go back to the church for a hot bowl of chili and hot chocolate. Please bring finger food to share.
Bell Ringers are needed for the Salvation Army on Sunday, Dec. 16 and 23 from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Wal-Mart in Washington. Let the church or Pastor Jason know if you are available.
