Historic Douds church to host community worship
The historic Mount Moriah M.E. Church, 1.5 miles north of Douds on 120th Street, will host its annual community worship service in conjunction with the annual Douds Field Day weekend at 10 a.m. Sunday.
Leading the services will be the Rev. Phil Campbell of Bethel Worship Center and the Rev. Ann Donat of the Trinity United Methodist Parish.
Special music will be provided during the service.
Mount Moriah church is a former Methodist country church built in 1892, replacing two former churches that were built on the site in 1846 and 1867. The church closed in 1958 but was acquired and completely restored in 1997 by the Douds Historic Preservation Association Inc. The church has been the location of a number of weddings, funerals and special services since that time.
A potluck dinner will follow the service at Yates Memorial Park in Douds.
Everyone is invited to the service and dinner.
