First United Methodist Church is changing its worship time on Jan. 29. Only one worship service will be held, at 8:30 a.m. a week from Sunday, with fellowships and snacks following. This 8:30 a.m. service replaces the usual 8 and 10:45 a.m. services on Jan. 29.
The Alive at Five service, at 5 p.m. Saturday, remains the same.
The worship time change is to accommodate Mission Sunday, which is held the fifth Sunday of each month that has five Sundays.
Plans for Mission Sundays are projects for the church to reach out into the community, including visits to local care facilities such as Sunnybrook, Parkview and the hospital; preparing and delivering meals to shut-ins and others needing a meal; cutting and removing dead trees at the Jefferson County Agency on Aging grounds; painting the Senior Citizens? Center; and working on the Habitat for Humanity home.
A meeting to plan for the delivery meal is at 9 a.m. Sunday in the church kitchen.
Anyone who would like to volunteer with any of the projects is welcome and should call Pete Tollenaere at 472-9479.
