Naomi Clouse, a member of Wellman Mennonite Church, joined the Mennonite Mission Network's program, Youth Venture, last summer. Youth Venture is dedicated to helping youth and young adults explore God's presence in the world. The program provides opportunities for individuals, ages 14-22, to join together for a two- or four-week service, learning and faith formation experience during the summer by actively engaging in God's work in the world.
"Last year I attended Philadelphia, Pa., as my first mission work and over the summer I decided that I wanted to go abroad because I enjoyed being able to work and serve alongside God and with great people who turn into your friends," Clouse said. "I applied this past summer for an international spot and was accepted for Sapporo, Japan."
Clouse will be on her mission trip from July 8 to 29. She will stay in a Menno village and travel around Japan to help families and communities that are in need of food.
To help her with her expenses, the Wellman Mennonite Church will hold a meal from 12 to 2 p.m. April 12, at the church. For more information, call Clouse at 319-321-4861 or send e-mail to naomiclouse@ymail.com.
