Climate Action Iowa to meet Monday

Sep. 10, 2019 9:51 am
Climate Action Iowa will hold meeting on the Green New Deal, Tuesday night, September 10, at the Fairfield Public Library, at 7:30PM. The event is free and open to the public.
Co-founder of the group, Thom Krystofiak, says, 'Most of us have heard about the Green New Deal and have a vague notion that it is an ambitious plan to fight climate change while simultaneously addressing social and economic inequities. But few of us know much about what that might look like. Our presentation will review the Green New Deals' scope and address many important questions like, 'Is it really necessary?,' 'Can we afford it?,' 'How much will it cost?, and 'Who will pay for it?''
According to Jonas Magram, another one of the group's founders, the meeting also will address some widespread myths about the Green New Deal. 'There's a lot of misinformation out there,' he says. 'No one's going to take away our hamburgers or tell us we can't fly.'
