The Jefferson County Fairfield 4-H Clover Kids wrapped up its meetings for the year from from 5:15-6:15 p.m. May 9 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds Activity Building.
Certificates were presented to the third-graders graduating from the kindergarten through third-grade 4-H Clover Kids group: Myriah Baker, Colton Bishop, Spencer Hilger, Sophie Stever, Wyatt Whitham, Brad Woodburn and Nate Woodburn.
Members receiving perfect attendance certificates were Joshua Mineart, Kaelyn Whitham, Sy Whitham and Wyatt Whitham.
The 16 members present made gifts and cards for Mother?s Day. They used envelopes to form the base, adding flowers made from colored paper or foam, beads and chenille stems. They designed different shapes of foam with colored tissue paper. Using multi-colored yarn, they wrapped a butterfly-shaped wire clothes hanger to form a colorful butterfly. Members also used their imagination to make something with Play Doh.
Information and forms about entries at the 2013 Greater Jefferson County Fair were discussed and handed out to each family.
Games were played, and ice cream sandwiches were served as a snack.
Helping with the evening activities were Karen Crossland, Phyllis Harris, Eileen Pickard, Heather Pickard, John Sandbothe, Sherri Mineart, Sophia Mineart, Brandon Hoskins, and Leland and Shirley Stanley.
Clover Kids meetings will start again in September for children in kindergarten through third grade.
After 35 years of service as volunteer organizational 4-H leader, Shirley Stanley and her husband Leland are retiring. Helpers stepping up to the leadership role will be Sherri Mineart, Eileen Pickard and possibly more by September, along with returning past year helpers.
