Clover Kids goats
Aug. 1, 2021 5:43 pm
Washington County Clover Kid second-graders had their time in the show ring July 19 at the 4-H Goat Show. Washington County 4-H Clover Kids had the opportunity to learn more about the goat project through a special mentoring program, which then gives them their own County Fair Goat Class.
Interested second grade Clover Kids were paired with older 4-H goat project members. The Clover Kids and mentors met two to three times before the Washington County Fair. These meetings allowed the 4-H mentor to teach the Clover Kid about goats and how to show. Many of the Clover Kids learned about feeding and showmanship. Some even helped with clipping goats for the fair.
During the Washington County Fair goat show, the Clover Kids had the opportunity to show one of their mentor’s goats. The partnership of the Clover Kids and the 4-H mentors has resulted in a renewed excitement of the goat project, new friendships, and a wealth of learning.
Clover Kid participants were nearly doubled than in previous years. Participants included: Adrian Green, Ava Eichelberger, Cael Schneider, Hayden Norman, Evan Greiner, Corbin Vazquez, Allie Smothers, Brooklynn Liska, Cade Drahota, Callie Brink, Grace Taylor, Pryce Sobaski, Lane Norman, Landon Lee, Jake Berdo, and Mason Schneider.
4-H mentors included: Oaklee Sobaski, Adyson Gerot, Blake Sobaski, Kaitlin Martin, Hunter Robertson, Isaac Black, Paige Malichky, Olivia Utzinger, and Austin Black.
