Clover Kids meeting Dec. 8
The Jefferson County Fairfield 4-H Clover Kids met from 5:15-6:15 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds Activity Building.
The 33 members present signed Thanksgiving greetings to send to residents in nursing homes. The kindergarten through third-graders made pinecone turkeys and played team games. Fall Harvest Bingo was played and turkeys were discussed in the kindergarte...

Clover Kids meeting Dec. 8
The Jefferson County Fairfield 4-H Clover Kids met from 5:15-6:15 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds Activity Building.
The 33 members present signed Thanksgiving greetings to send to residents in nursing homes. The kindergarten through third-graders made pinecone turkeys and played team games. Fall Harvest Bingo was played and turkeys were discussed in the kindergarten through first-graders? group.
All of the Clover Kids had the opportunity to decorate a turkey cookie using sugar cookies made by Shirley Stanley. They added chocolate frosting, candy corn feathers, chocolate chip eyes, yellow frosting beaks and toes.
Helping with the activities were Sunny Allison, Juanita Bray, Ella Cass, Karen Crossland, Phyllis Harris, Kelly Lacey, Eileen and Heather Pickard, Joshua Baker, Tom Gerleman, Jason Steele and Leland and Shirley Stanley.
The next meeting will be from 5:15-6:15 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds Activity Building.

Jefferson G?s 4-H Club elects officers
The Jefferson G?s 4-H Club had a meeting Nov. 11 at the Jefferson County ISU Extension Office.
The meeting was called to order by Jennifer Clements at 10:22 a.m. The roll call response was your birthdate. Present were: Eleanor Brown, Lily Brown, Riley Brown, Chloe Campbell, Jennifer Clements, Kristen Daugherty, Macy Holderbaum, Alison Krumboltz, Chelsea Lanphier, Sage Richmond, and Katie Roe. They had a guest: Jefferson County Youth Coordinator Sunny Allison.
Kristen Daugherty gave a presentation about her P.A. Girl Scout training craft, a turtle. Riley Brown?s presentation was about the roadrunner.
The club elected officers: president ? Jennifer Clements; vice president ? Kaitlyn Daugherty; secretary and reporter ? Chelsea Lanphier and Macy Holderbaum; treasurer ? Lily Brown; photographers ? the whole club.
They adjourned the meeting with the pledge of allegence to the American flag led by Chelsea Lanphier. Chelsea Lanphier motioned to adjourn the meeting, and Macy Holderbaum second it.
Afterward they made pumpkin pie.

FFA member learns about leadership
Students from across Iowa, including Fairfield FFA Chapter member John Danielson, attended the 360° Leadership Conference Nov. 11-12 in Des Moines.
The conference is an activity of the National FFA Organization sponsored by Syngenta and Crop Production Services as a special project of the National FFA Foundation.
The two-day program helps FFA members become aware of influence and the influence process while discovering the importance of contributing to their chapter. They attended sessions on discovering how to build relationships, build trust and be deliberate all while collaborating with others to be true agents of change.
The National FFA Organization coordinates 360° nationally with the sponsorship of Syngenta, while CPS supported the programs taking place in Iowa. This school year, more than 3,000 students across the nation will participate in a 360° Leadership Conference.
FFA members attend conference
Students from across Iowa, including several Fairfield FFA Chapter members, attended the 212° Leadership Conference Nov. 11-12 in Des Moines.
The Fairfield FFA Chapter members in attendance included Ashley Nelson, James Kyle and Trevor Starnes.
The two-day program helps FFA members become aware of the four categories of growth while discovering the importance of pursuing life-long growth. They attended sessions on discovering how habits effect growth, the difference between personal and professional relationships as well as identifying a personal mentor or coach.
The National FFA Organization coordinates 212° nationally with the sponsorship of Syngenta, while CPS supported the programs taking place in Iowa. This school year, more than 4,000 students across the nation will participate in a 212° Leadership Conference.
Risk management seminar planned
The Iowa Pork Producers Association is coordinating with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and the Iowa Pork Industry Center to offer regional risk management educational seminars for Iowa pork producers and allied industry representatives.
The regional session will be followed by a series of in-depth small group sessions for those interested in additional information about day-to-day swine risk management decisions.
A session will be from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Johnson County Extension Office in Iowa City.
Conference organizers have slated a lineup of expert speakers to discuss effective risk management in pork production.
Attendees also are encouraged to attend an optional 9 a.m. session to review the basics of hedging, options, insurance and other risk management tools.
The seminar is $10 for those pre-registered or $15 at the door. Lunch and meeting materials will be guaranteed to those pre-registered.
