The March 5 meeting of the Franklin Cubs was called to order by president Gabe Greiner. The roll call was ?What more do you want out of 4-H, more than your current projects?? The activity was a scavenger hunt on the fairgrounds that the members organized last meeting. The secretary?s report and the treasurer?s report were given an approved by Brady Knutson and Madison Conway. Old business included the dodge ball tournament that day and the field trip on March 22 to Cedar Falls and Waterloo. The new business included the March 13 ?Know Your Swine Workshop? for all beginning swine showman, which starts at 5:45 p.m. It is required for all new single-source participants to learn more basic health, biosecurity, feed and facility needs for swine projects. Parents are encouraged to attend. March 13 is the bucket bottle calf workshop from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. March 18 is the Derby Swine Weigh-in from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Participants must -preregister by March 15 and will be assigned a weigh-in time to improve biosecurity measures for all. The March 5 meeting was adjourned with the 4-H Pledge led by Gavin Greiner. Gabe Greiner shared a presentation on Hereford pigs. The next meeting is at 5:30 p.m., April 2.
4-H announcements: March 18, Derby Swine Weigh-in; April 15, Pancake Breakfast and Cattle Show; April 29, FSQA training from 8:30 a.m. to noon; May 6, goat and sheep weigh-in; July 16, all animal identification has to be turned in through 4-H Online.
