The March 2016 meeting of Chilcote Questers 1092 was held March 3 at Washington Public Library. The meeting was called to order by president Kathleen Almelien, with nine members answering roll call with ? a corn-shelling memory.? Minutes of the previous meeting were read by Pat Fritz and approved as read. Mary Levy gave the treasurer?s report. She also reminded the group that dues will be due next month. A state ballot of officers was presented by Kathleen. Mary Levy made a motion to accept as presented. It was seconded by Phyllis Eisele. The motion carried. Mary also updated the group on the International Convention that will be May 19-23 in Des Moines. Questers 1092 is responsible for a table centerpiece for the banquet, and club representatives will also be assisting in the Hospitality Room from 9 to 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 22. Kathleen reminded the group that registration for State Day is March 28. State Day will be held April 8 and 9 in Oskaloosa.
The group also discussed a summer trip, possibly to Van Buren County. Virginia McCurdy will be chairman, assisted by Marilyn Klise. There will be more discussion next month.
Kathleen reported to the group about information on RAGBRAI, which will be coming to Washington for an overnight stay on July 29.
Kathleen passed around a sheet asking everyone to fill in volunteer hours, for the annual President?s Report that she is working on. The group also voted and decided to continue with donations annually to the State Fair, Terrace Hill, and Presidents Restoration. The group also discussed possibly meeting at the library in September, and putting information that members have saved into binders that will stay at the library for research.
The next meeting will be April 7, 2016, at the home of Linda Gonshorowski, with Wendy Langan as co-hostess. Wendy will give the program on ?The Brighton Canning Factory.?
