Post 29 American Legion met in regular session with Wayne Kaufman commanding. Reports on finance and membership were heard from Adjutant Jim Peterson; the previous four funerals were provided for by Mike Worley; and an upcoming project from Lonny Milligan. The program which provides gloves and stocking caps for VA patients has already run out of gloves so a new supply is on order. The club welcomed two new members who have transferred from South Dakota, Lindy Snider and Robert Bodzislaw. A large contribution was donated to the program ?Wreaths Across America? in which a wreath will be on every veteran?s grave.
The program was provided by Chrystal and Ivan Arthur. Chrystal spoke on and displayed some of her artwork, noting that art is not only beautiful to observe but is also a method of recording history. She also told of their trip to Europe where they visited many war memorial sites. Ivan spoke of his four years in the Navy beginning in 1969. He was assigned to a nuclear submarine as a torpedo operator. He stated that the nuclear fuel would last five years but the boat had to dock periodically to re-stock food and supplies. During his six missions he spent a combined total of one year under water.
Veterans are invited to attend any meeting of Post 29 on the second Tuesday of each month at the Blair House at 7 p.m.
