Martha Washington Questers 1032 met on April 22, at the home of Mary Statler in Keota. Eight members and one guest attended. The guest was Cheryl Crone. Co-hostess was Jane Fehr.
President Virginia Reighard opened the meeting with saying the Quester?s Invocation. For the roll call, each member had to pay 25 cents for each child she has. This money is accumulating and will be used for a charity or good cause. The minutes were read and approved.
The group discussed the International Questers Convention, which will be held May 8-10 in Des Moines. Five members are going ? Virginia, Vicki, Janet, Jane, and Linda. Choices of tours were discussed, and plans were made for driving. Martha Washington Questers 1032 will be helping at the registration table and in the hospitality room on Saturday morning. The sign-up sheet for next year?s programs was passed around, and the June outing was discussed. It was decided that members would take a day trip to Independence. The exact date in June will be decided later. The next meeting will be May 27 at the home of Virginia Reighard, who will be doing the program on ?Coffee and Related items,? and Maurine Roberts will be the co-hostess.
The program this month was Show and Tell, with many interesting items being shared. Mary started off with lots of small antique items, including early tintype photos, antique eyeglasses, and a wooden domino set. Maurine shared early photos of her and her husband, as this is the year of her 60th wedding anniversary. Janet brought a purple cow figurine and read the purple cow poem from an old anthology. She also shared a postcard from 1949 that was sent from a friend of Mary Statler?s in Keota. Both Marilyn and Vicki shared interesting old photos, and Virginia brought an interesting picture of flowers, with the center of each picture showing Queen Elizabeth. The program ended with Jane sharing some pottery done in the raku method. It was a fun afternoon for all attending.
