Post 29 American Legion met Jan. 9 in a regular session with Wayne Kaufman commanding. Reports were heard from adjutant Jim Peterson on finances and membership; first district commander Alvin Miller on upcoming events in the district; Mike Worley on recent funerals; and Lonny Milligan on forthcoming events such as flower delivery and the airport breakfast.
Two members have passed away since our last meeting: Don Schantz and Bernard Payne. Two new members were welcomed, Jennifer and William Evans. A major project will occur March 25 at 1 p.m. at the new high school auditorium. Professional actor Tom Milligan will present a one-act show titled ?An afternoon with Ding Darling,? at which he portrays the late Mr. Darling and discusses the many areas of his involvement. Preceding the show will be members of the high school drama class with a presentation. Tickets will be available from Legion members.
The program was provided by commander Kaufman and consisted of a video documenting the history of the American Legion, and its many programs all designed to assist veterans in need, and mentoring youth.
Area veterans are invited to meet with Legion members the second Tuesday of each month, 7 p.m. at the Blair House.
