Two circles of United Presbyterian Women met during September. Circle III met the morning of Sept. 13 in the church lounge with six women present. The Christ candle was lit. Jane Fehr led in prayer that included concerns for many requests. There was also joy for two new babies in the Fehr family and for Betty Colby?s wedding anniversary.
Betty led the first lesson in the new study, ?Who is Jesus.? She passed out Scripture verses for each person to read. The lesson included the entire book of Mark and how Mark portrayed Jesus. Mark did not begin with the birth of Jesus. He emphasized personal or lower Christology characteristics as opposed to the divine aspects of Jesus? life given by John?s writings. Mark emphasized what Jesus did rather than what he said. Members pondered and discussed why Jesus warned the disciples and others to keep quiet about who He was and what He did.
Bernice Fehr gave devotions. The ?Mustard Seed Project? started in Atlanta, Georgia, was a special ministry to the ?Nones? or people who did not attend any organized religion.
Phyllis VanGerpen gave the missionary report.
