The Saturday Morning Coffee Club met at 8:30 a.m., Aug. 12, at the Coffee Corner. Dick Paul presided with the following in attendance: John Thorne, Bob Nardy, Larry Bartlett, Col. Sonny Phipps, Max Embree, Larry DeLong and Keith Lazar.
The group discussed sign permits on the front of buildings around the square, the life of geothermal units, Washington High School football, and Zach Johnson at the PGA golf tournament. The fact of the day was that Thomas Jefferson invented the coat hanger.
Dick Paul entertained a motion that an individual member of the club with a birthday next week shall be compelled to purchase coffee and cookies for the group on the day of their birthday. The motion was passed by a vote of all ayes except one nay.
Dick Paul noted that there were only a few vacancies remaining for membership in the club on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The meeting was declared adjourned by consent. The club meets in a reserved area at the Coffee Corner every Saturday ?unpromptly? at 8:30 a.m.
