The Wayland Lions Club held their November meeting at the Wayland Community Center. There were nine members present. President Jim Hester called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roger Roth gave the Invocation before the meeting broke for a delicious meal catered by Alice Hochstetler.

The Wayland Lions Club held their November meeting at the Wayland Community Center. There were nine members present. President Jim Hester called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roger Roth gave the Invocation before the meeting broke for a delicious meal catered by Alice Hochstetler.
At the resumption of the meeting, Terry Kaufman acknowledged that the secretary minutes were emailed to members and asked for approval, which was granted. Terry Kaufman gave the treasurer?s report, which was approved unanimously.
Lion Ron Marsh requested a donation for Kole Hudson, to assist in expenses from an accident, which was approved.
Stan Meyer discussed the Annual Fruit Sale, which will be held on Dec. 2 and 3 at the Wayland Community Center. The hours set aside for purchase of the fruit will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. President Jim Hester and Ron Marsh will be picking up the fruit for the event.
Membership Chairman Roger Roth suggested June 2017 for the Centennial Membership Drive. Roger offered for consideration a display of vintage collectors? cars, with the owners giving a history of their vehicle. This would be followed by a catered meal or hors d?ovres for attendees. Roger appointed Ron Marsh to chair the event.
Jay Meyer gave an account of another successful KidSight Screening, which was held on Nov. 10, starting at 9 a.m. at the Crawfordsville School. There were 24 children screened in 1 ½ hours. Jay was assisted by Lions Carol Shumaker, Larry Graber and Stan Meyer. Jay said they generally have four or five children entering kindergarten from the group screened that will have eferrals for further analysis by an eye doctor to alert the parents what measures should be taken for eye care. The KidSight Program is conducted annually by Lions Clubs at no cost to the students? parents or guardians.
