Post 29 American Legion met in regular session Dec. 12 with Mike York commanding. A report on membership and finance was heard from Adjutant Jim Peterson. Lonny Milligan, fundraising chair suggested ways to disburse the equipment used in the food stand which they no longer need. It was moved that The Legion purchase another large quantity of stocking caps, gloves, socks and underwear for patients at the VA and a similar program being operated in Cedar Rapids. A ?thank you? note was read from the VA in appreciation of the clothing items they have supplied.
Commander York outlined some ideas of future projects and activities and reminded members of the Mid-Winter conference coming up in February in Des Moines.
The highlight of the meeting was the attendance of two members who are each 100 years old. George Masson and Harvey Holden both served in WWII, and reside at the United Presbyterian Home.
Veterans in the area are invited to attend meetings held at the Blair House on the second Tuesday at 7 p.m.
