Two circles of United Presbyterian Women met in April. Circle III met the morning of April 12 in the church lounge with seven in attendance. Jane Fehr lit the Christ Candle. She also led the prayer after "joys and concerns."
Each member took part in directing attention to different parts of lesson. One person was not responsible for the total lesson; It was an interesting manner of studying how Christians are to forgive as they are forgiven. The group studied the 51st Psalm. It is one of the most popular repentant Psalms.
The book of Isaiah shows images of streams of living water flowing when forgiveness is given. Members discussed the definitions of "Forgive us our debts, trespasses or sins" in the Lord's Prayer. They talked about the images conjured up for each term. Forgiveness is not easy and the hardest part of forgiveness is forgetting.
Each member wrote out a burden of guilt on a piece of paper. The papers were collected and later destroyed to signify getting rid of the heaviness carried by the burden of unforgiveness.
Jane gave devotions. She told of a new worshipping community called The Table in Casper, Wyoming. It gives doubters and disciples a chance to explore community service and personal growth together. The group prayed for this new community. Jane closed the meeting by reading a short devotion pertaining to forgiveness. She extinguished the Christ Candle.
Twelve members of Circle IV met in the Campbell Room of the United Presbyterian Home on April 13, with Julia Gamon as hostess. Betty Beenblossom conducted the business meeting. Julia shared a newsletter from Corresponding Missionary Tom Johnson in Niger. The special offering for April was paper goods for Lending Hands Adult DayCare. Detailed plans were made for the PW Spring Workshop to be held all day Thursday, April 21, at the Washington United Presbyterian Church. Plans were also made for the upcoming salad luncheon May 4, the Brownlee birthday party April 20 and the Brownlee Hymn Sing May 3.
Janice Twinam led devotions and Kay Hall led the study on Streams of Mercy and Forgiveness. The next meeting will be May 11. Janice Twinam will be the hostess, Esther Bordwell will have the study and Julia Gamon will lead devotions.
