The Wayland Lions Club held its June meeting at the Wayland Community Center.
President Ron Marsh called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Brian Pattyson gave the Invocation before the meeting broke for a delicious meal catered by Alice Hochstetler.

The Wayland Lions Club held its June meeting at the Wayland Community Center.
President Ron Marsh called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Brian Pattyson gave the Invocation before the meeting broke for a delicious meal catered by Alice Hochstetler.
At the resumption of the meeting Lion secretary Carole Martins read the secretary minutes and Terry Kaufman gave treasurer?s report, which were both approved unanimously.
Brian Pattyson informed the 11 attending Lions that The Iowa Lion monthly publication was under consideration to become digital, rather than the mailed copy. Three of the members preferred receiving The Iowa Lion via computer, while eight preferred the mailed copy for various reasons. This information will be communicated forward to aid in the decision process.
Stan Meyer informed the club that the July 4 Pancake Breakfast would be served from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m., prior to the parade at 10:30 a.m. The July 4 festivities will have the Liability Insurance underwritten by Lions Clubs International, as in the past.
Lion Stan Meyer informed the members that the Wayland Lions Club would be sponsoring the Mississippi Valley Blood Drive this Thursday, June 23, at theWayland Community Center from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. Stan informed the members that a second Mississippi Valley Blood Drive would be held on Aug. 18, at the same time and location.
President Ron Marsh read a thank you note from Parkview Home where the following work had been performed by members as service to their local community: Parkview residents deck replaced and for mulch being delivered and spread at Parkview.
After the meeting, Lion Chad Hudson introduced guest speaker Robb Gardner, President and CEO of Henry County Health Center, who discussed the improvements to the hospital including the Energy and Surgery centers. Gardner informed the group of the challenges meeting government regulations and the critical care needed to provide the public the best quality service. Robb proudly informed the members that the Henry County Health Center was in the top 100 critical care hospitals in the United States.
The Wayland Lions Club is always welcoming new like-minded citizens anxious to help and give back to their community. Please call Terry Kaufman at People?s Bank 319 256-2131 if interested. They hold their meetings the third Tuesday of every month at the Wayland Community Center and a delicious meal is offered to participants for a fee.
