Post 29 American legion met in regular session with Wayne Kaufman commanding. Adjutant Jim Peterson reported on membership and finances. Mike Worley reported that the annual Veterans Day dinner Nov. 11 will be combined with the Ainsworth post and will be held at the United Presbyterian Church. Lonny Milligan reported on recent auctions and those forthcoming at which the post?s food stand will be in operation. The annual program of providing stocking caps and gloves for patients at the VA is beginning. He reported on the flag raising ceremony at local football games provided by the members. The post will provide a financial gift to the program, Wreaths across America, decorating graves of veterans during winter months.
The program was provided by Wayne and Ron Brock, who, along with Don Gardner were recently on an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. A video of the event and narration by the Brocks showed highlights of the trip and all the things they experienced during their 22-hour-long day.
Area veterans are encouraged to attend meetings held at the Blair House the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.
