Post 29 American Legion met in regular session with Wayne Kaufman commanding. Jim Peterson, Adjutant, reported on membership and finances and that member Walter Pacha had passed. Alvin Miller, past district commander, presented an award to Lonny Milligan in recognition of his lead in repairing a wall at department headquarters in Des Moines. Bob Kennedy reported that the Sons of American Legion had provided a meal for the tractorcade which recently went through Washington. Lonny Milligan, fundraising chairman, reported on flags the Legion have provided for local schools and that new flags will soon be presented to other organizations
The program was provided by Scott Lujan. Scott joined the U.S. Army upon graduation from high school and trained as a medic. Through a series of complicated events he was accepted into Officers Candidate School and received his commission. After some 20 years? service to our country he retired a captain, and for his exemplary and courageous service in Afghanistan was awarded the Bronze Star.
Veterans in this area are invited to meetings as guests/ prospective members the second Tuesday of each month at the Blair House.
