Fortnightly Department of Garden met June 20 at the home of leader Linda Varney. Five members were in attendance and responded to roll call with comments on what kind of pond they would like in their yard. It was noted that the garden strip at City Hall was in need of tending, in particular the viburnum. Forms for the 2017-18 program were passed around and members were asked to check their information to ensure it was correct for the next book. Jane Fehr, Sonya Gonzalez and MaryLynn Helscher discontinued their membership in Garden, shrinking the group to seven. Following the business meeting, a very interesting and informative presentation on ?The History, Background and Improvements of Willow Pond? was given by guest Kathy Fields. A motion to adjourn was made by Jane Kruse and seconded by Shirley Pfeifer. After refreshments, the group toured Linda?s property to see the progress she had made on landscaping. The next Garden meeting will be July 18 in the home of Myrna Mittler. Anyone interested in Garden Department of Fortnightly may call 319-591-9035 for information.
