Post 29 American Legion met at regular session with Wayne Kaufman commanding. Adjutant Jim Peterson reported on finances and membership. Two new members were welcomed: Lee Harland by transfer and Chuck Clark, a Vietnam Navy veteran. First District Commander, Alvin Miller spoke of the upcoming Mid-winter conference and the Spring conference. Fund raising chair Lonny Milligan reminded the club of upcoming activities, and told of the depletion of the caps and gloves we provide to needy veterans. A new supply will be forthcoming.
The program was provided by member Marion Turnipseed, 93 year old veteran of the Army Air Corps during WW II. He guided us through his months of training throughout the country, as flight engineer aboard a B-24 Liberator. He was then sent to a base in England where they went on many bombing missions over France and Germany. His talk was accompanied by maps and a model of a B-24, and an actual piece of German shrapnel which hit the craft.
Post 29 welcomes any and all veterans as guests and prospective members to meet with them the second Tuesday at the Blair House.
