Fleur-de-Lis Club members on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 1:30 p.m. at the Hy-Vee parking lot to car pool to the home of Harold and Sherry Dawson. Bev Crandall, hostess, arranged for us to tour their new home west of Washington on old Highway 92. Sherry graciously welcomed the group to their home and gave a tour of the upstairs and downstairs. The lovely antiques and open areas of the Great Room, Music area, sewing room, 4 seasons room and other various rooms indicated a well thought out floor plan. Of interest was the concrete flooring of the front porch. It looks like brown wooden planks, but is colored concrete and etched to look like wooden plank.
The group then gathered round the dining room table and enjoyed dessert served by Sherry and Bev. Since the club had not met during the months of July and August, the group enjoyed lively conversation and catching up on the neighborhood and families.
Following dessert, Nancy Kimmel, president, conducted a short business meeting. Bev read a poem regarding Old Age and our Memories. Roll call, What Made this Summer Special, was answered by members and guests, Sherry Dawson, Pat Dawson, and Margaret Quigley. The secretary-treasurer reports were given by Linda Birney. The Fall Market Open House of Miss Emma?s was noted with Penny Stout and Tiffany Greiner. The remainder of the relaxing afternoon was enjoyed with visiting.
The next meeting will be Oct. 22, at 1:30 p.m. with Bev Krotz as hostess. Meet at the State Theater.
