Six members of the Readers and Writers department of Fortnightly Club met Tuesday, July 14, at the Washington Public Library.
President Patty Roe conducted a short business meeting. Programming and activities for the 2015-16 club year were discussed. Each person then shared an original commentary or published material on the suggested topic ?Telephones.? Patty read the poem ?Eletelephony? by Laura E. Richards. Sally Reighard shared a suspense story she had written, with a series of mysteries involving a stolen cell phone. Several stories included commentary about party lines, styles such as Princess phones and candlestick phones, and the evolution of telephones from earlier years to the present.
The next meeting will be at 3:30 p.m., Aug. 11, at the Washington Public Library. The suggested topic is ?A Wrong Turn.? Guests and potential members are welcome.
