The United Presbyterian Women held their Christmas Tea on Dec. 7 with 17 people attending. Betty Colby lit the Christ candle and members recited the PW Purpose. Moderator June Asper led in prayer. Circle III served cookies and tea around decorated tables.
June gave a little history of the Least Coin tradition while a person from each circle shook out the pennies that had been collected over the past year. The Least Coin tradition started in 1956. Women in countries all over the world gave their least coin each month. For those in the United States, the least coin is the penny. But those pennies add up.
June thanked the circles for their work at the Home?s Health Center in the past months and for all the volunteers at the Thank Offering Sunday service. She made special mention of the work Joyce Letts and Janice Flory did in cleaning the kitchen.
Upcoming events are: World Day of Prayer, March 3, May Salad Luncheon, May 3, and Installation Coffee, June 7.
Circle IV presented the program. Members read Advent devotionals written by past members of Presbyterian Women. Charmian McGruder?s was especially appropriate since it was about ?Who is Jesus,? and that is the theme of the study lessons this year. In between Christmas songs played by Julia Gamon, there were devotions written by Namoi Tinnes, Helen Thorne, Donna Caldwell, Alice Mangold, Ruth Holden, Marie Dare and Katherine Kleese.
The program ended with the singing of Silent Night and the reading of the PW Daily Prayer.
