A regular meeting of Chapter J was held on Thurs., Dec. 1, at 6:30 p.m., at the beautifully, Christmas-decorated home of Lynn Loula with Regan Loula, Maxine Martin and Cheryl Kurtz serving as co-hostesses to the fourteen members in attendance.
President Loula presided over the short business meeting. Chaplain Carol Winga read the Christmas Story from Luke. Treasurer Debbie Leith shared her report and encouraged the members to pay their 2017 dues.
Program Committee chair person Sara Bartlett shared that the next regularly scheduled meeting will be in Tori Lumberg?s home on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. with the program ?Wild About Music? being presented by Janine Rosien and herself.
Donna Orris presented a courtesy report on the members unable to attend the meeting. President Loula presented an update on the possibility of the three local P.E.O. chapters helping host one Saturday Kitchen in 2017, as brought up by Marde McConnell at the November meeting. Also President Loula asked if Chapter J members would be interested in donating to the Helen Thorne memorial as part of the Performing Arts Center and all were in agreement.
Prior to President Loula closing the meeting, the group was reminded of member Janine Rosien?s home being part of the Christmas Tour of Homes and Sara Bartlett informed the group of an opportunity to hear the Southeast Iowa Symphony. Members Betty Colby and Carol Winga shared of very special honors each of their grandson?s had received.
The group had a very good time participating in the ?Fake it-Bake it-Make-it? program. The items presented by the members were all part of a silent auction, with proceeds to be donated to the P.E.O. projects to benefit girls and woman.
