Seven members of Log Cabin Questers and one guest met at Sunset Park.
They toured the Alexander Young Log Home which was built in 1840 by Alexander Young in Washington County. His sons, Rovert and Hueston Young, gave the home to the Washington DAR Chapter in 1912. Seven members of Log Cabin Questers and one guest met at Sunset Park.
They toured the Alexander Young Log Home which was built in 1840 by Alexander Young in Washington County. His sons, Rovert and Hueston Young, gave the home to the Washington DAR Chapter in 1912. On Aug. 4, 1973, the cabin was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Marj Lins, DAR member, told the history of the home and talked about the furnishings. She also told of recent improvements to the home, and projects for the future. Following the tour, Log Cabin Questers presented a check to the Washington DAR Chapter for upcoming projects.
A brief business meeting was held. Local field trip program ideas were discussed. Programs for the upcoming year were handed out.
Sheila Gerot provided refreshments.
Next meeting will be held on Sept. 1 at the home of Nancy Schmidt.
