Post 29 American Legion met in regular session with Wayne Kaufman commanding. Two members, Sam Young and Paul Swank have passed since the last meeting. Reports were heard from Jim Peterson, Adjutant, on membership and finances, Rick Conrad, on the State convention of the Legion Riders, Mike Worley, on the Honor Guard, and Lonny Milligan regarding fundraising. Wayne Brock reported on the flag raising which will occur at all home football games. Sons of the American Legion will hold a picnic next Saturday, Sept. 12 at Marr Park. The meat is furnished but attendees are asked to bring a dish. The event is open to all veterans and their families.
Sue Rich of the county veterans administration provided the program by describing her duties and of the free programs available to qualified veterans of the county.
Two new members were welcomed to the post, both having served in World War II. Mary Case, who served in the Coast Guard, and Frank Hanshew, who served in the Army in WW II, Korea, and Vietnam.
Veterans are invited to attend Post meetings as guests which are held the second Tuesday of the month at the Blair House at 7 p.m.
