Club officers selected

Nine members of the Wednesday Study Club of Crawfordsville met in the United Church of Crawfordsville Fellowship Hall on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at 2 p.m. Hostesses Cathy Williams and Ruth Erwin had the tables decorated with a St. Patrick's Day theme.
President Clarissa Malmberg called the meeting to order and the members recited the flag salute and Club Collect. Business included the reading and approval of the Dec. 5, 2018, minutes and the treasurer's report. A thank-you from Lending Hands was read and several book briefs were shared. Items for HACAP were collected and will be delivered.
The election of officers for the 2019-20 year was: President Clarissa Malmberg, Vice President Janice Twinam and Secretary/Treasurer, Debbie Lowe will continue in the same offices. Pauline Richardson will go on the nominating committee.
Janice Twinam led the program, 'Exploring the World of Haiku.” She shared a book written by her brother Darold D. Braida titled An Anthology of Haiku in Iowa and two award-winning poems with hand-drawn pictures that he had done. After explaining the Japanese art of Haiku, each member created their own poem and shared them.
Refreshments were served by hostesses Cathy and Ruth.
The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday, March 25, 2019, at 7 p.m. at the Crawfordsville Community Room. Ten members and one guest, Jennie Greene, were present.
Lion President Adam Mitchell opened the meeting by leading the club in the Pledge of Allegiance. Lion Secretary Nancy Love gave the opening prayer. The minutes of the March 11, 2019, meeting were approved as read. The treasurer gave his report.
New Business: It was moved, seconded and approved to elect Lion Arvid and Lion Nancy to be the club's voting delegates at the District 9 SE Convention April 13 in New London. Lions Scott and Luetta will be in charge of the scholarships applications. It was moved, seconded and approved to pay half the cost of the silver cords for WACO graduates. Guest Jennie Greene expressed a desire to become a Lion and will be inducted in the fall.
The following slate of officers for 2019-2020 was proposed: President Larry Swailes; first Vice President Mike Massey; second Vice President Steve Williams; third Vice President Gene Miller; Secretary Nancy Love; Treasurer Randy Finke; Tail Twister Larry Fletecher; Lion Tamer Mike Massey; One-Year Directors, Lance Miller and Joel Greene; Two-Year Directors, Billie Jo Rose and Luetta Greene. This slate of officers will be voted on at the next meeting.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
Pastor Jason Collier hosted 'Clergy Day Apart” on Tuesday, March 26, for clergy of the Methodist Church in Southeastern Iowa with approximately 25 in attendance. Several church members helped with snacks and lunch. Games were also enjoyed.
There will be a Church Potluck on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Bring a favorite dish to share. Table service and drinks will be provided.
