Southeast Iowa Sierra Club discussion, potluck Wednesday
Southeast Iowa Sierra Club will have a community discussion and potluck at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Eco Barn in Eco Village.
The potluck will be at 6:30 p.m., and the discussion, with Suzan Erem and Joe Klingelhutz of the Sustainable Iowa Land Trust, will be at 7 p.m.
Erem and Klingelhutz will discuss how to protect land for regenerative farming in perpetuity and create SILT farms in Jefferson County, to increase production of local, affordable food that will become increasingly important in the era of climate change.
This event is sponsored by the Southeast Iowa Sierra Club, the Sustainable Living Coalition, The Iowa Sustainable Land Trust and the SE Iowa Food Hub.
Southeast Iowa Sierra Club seeks volunteers for clean up
Southeast Iowa Sierra Club is planning a Central Park Summer Spruce Up from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
Volunteers can help clean up the garden beds in Central Park for the upcoming RAGBRAI visit.
Volunteers should bring gloves, trowels, hats.
Birmingham Lions hosting ice cream supper
BIRMINGHAM - The Birmingham Lions Club will have a homemade ice cream supper from 5-7 p.m. Saturday at the Birmingham Lions Building.
The menu will include ham sandwiches, desserts, beverages and six flavors of homemade ice cream. A free will offering will be collected for the supper.
Live entertainment is planned.
