American Legion Auxiliary No. 47
American Legion Auxiliary No. 47 in Fairfield is launching a drive for items needed at Marshalltown Veterans Home. Items will be delivered prior to Christmas. First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Fairfield is a drop-off location for donated items up to Dec. 1. Drop off items 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, the door is locked, so ring the door bell.
Clothing must be new, with the primary need being sizes XL to 6X. Snack items include diet and regular pop in bottles or cans, and items like candy bars (full and snack size) and Little Debbies must be individually wrapped. Personal Care items, such as shampoo, body lotion, body washes, and shaving cream cannot be in travel size; electric razors, electric toothbrushes, women's make-up and jewelry are an ongoing need. Forever postage stamps, large-print playing cards, adult coloring books, puzzles of 500 pieces or less, handheld electronic games, and crossword/jumble/word search books are always welcome. Iowa J, Wayland, National T.T.T. Society
Members of Iowa J, Wayland, of the National T.T.T. Society met at a restaurant in Washington on the evening of Tuesday, Aug. 27, for a social evening of dinner and conversation. Eleven members were present for the most enjoyable outing.
A brief business meeting was conducted by President Lori Messer. Tidings was discussed and members were asked to read the proposed by-law changes before the next meeting. At the September meeting, delegates to the National Convention in Cedar Rapids will be selected. One room will be reserved for chapter attendees.
Roll was taken and the treasury report given. Joni has the back to school gift cards for campers. The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the Wayland Community Room.
