Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, known as RSVP, hosted its fourth annual honoring of their seniors who devote time to the many projects in Fairfield that help keep the community thriving.
Fifteen volunteers attended the event June 25 at Green Gourmet restaurant in Fairfield, sharing food while John Miller, RSVP coordinator, thanked each of them for serving.
Miller also gave them a chance to test their knowledge of volunteering, in a Jeopardy-style game. For example: '59 and 20.” (The related question: 'How many RSVP volunteers serve in Fairfield, and at how many nonprofit agencies?”) All participants learned a lot while having fun with the game, and some of them left with hundreds of dollars of (pretend!) money for making correct guesses.
RSVP functions to involve seniors over age 55 in nonprofit service in Jefferson County. Adults of any age can serve on its council.
Miller can be reached at 641-919-4242 or j.miller@wapellocouw.org.
