Come celebrate Dr. James Van Allen’s birthday

Mount Pleasant native, James Van Allen, was born Sept. 7, 1914, educated in our local schools and went on to become the world-famous physicist who discovered the Van Allen radiation belts which circle around the earth and made America's space program possible.
Everyone is invited to come celebrate Dr. Van Allen’s birthday on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025 from 1-4 p.m. at the corner of W. Madison and N. Van Buren in Mt. Pleasant.
Come help make ice cream at 1 p.m., the cake and ice cream will be served at 2 p.m.
Science activities and games for kids will follow. Led by Susan Loescher and Rosemary Peck. Tour the Van Allen House and the Heritage Center Museum. Children should be accompanied by an adult.
