?How can charitable giving benefit me financially?? ?What is a Living Will?? ?Can I reduce taxes and save money at the same time?? - these are questions that will be addressed at the free financial planning seminar entitled, ?Planning Your Financial Future? being held on Tuesday evening, Sept. 22, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Kirkwood Learning Center, 2192 Lexington Blvd. in Washington. This event is designed for individuals of all ages as well as local non-profit organizations. It is being sponsored by the Community Foundation of Washington County, an affiliate of the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend, a non-profit group dedicated to supporting nonprofit organizations by establishing endowment funds in their name.
Several local speakers will present sessions: Attorney Joseph McConnell of Washington will speak about ?Tools for Effective Estate Planning? and Don Yoder, retired licensed public accountant from Kalona, will present a session called ?Save Taxes ? Pay Debt ? Build Retirement: Ages 25-60.? Barbara Melbourne, Vice President of Development, Community Foundation of the Great River Bend, Bettendorf, will give a session called ?Leave Your Legacy ? A Guide to Giving?.
This event is not affiliated with any specific product or company and will be strictly informative. Individuals who have additional questions are encouraged to consult their personal financial advisor. Nonprofit organizations attending this workshop with a board member or a staff member and a potential donor will be eligible to submit their organization?s name for a drawing for one of two $250 grants. These will be awarded at the conclusion of the workshop.
