Congregate Meals

The Fairfield Senior Citizen Center has listed its menu for the coming week.

Meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield senior center and at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge senior center.

In observance of Lent, fish will be served Wednesday and then offered as an alternative each Friday through April 8. Diners should let the meal site know if they prefer fish when making reservations.

The Ed Bruegge Band will provide music during Wednesday?s meal.

Monday ? chicken, baked potato with sour cream, Brussels sprouts with cheese, fresh apple.

Tuesday ? pork cutlet, sweet potatoes, peas, Mandarin oranges, tomato juice.

Wednesday ? spaghetti noodles with meat sauce, green beans, layered lettuce salad, diced pears, orange juice.

Thursday ? low sodium beef stew, whole grain biscuit, tossed lettuce salad and assorted dressings, sliced strawberries, crispy rice bar.

March 9 ? low sodium hot turkey sandwich, mashed potatoes with low sodium gravy, creamed spinach, applesauce.

Milk, whole wheat and whole grain bread/muffins, and margarine are offered with all meals. The menu provides a general balanced diet that meets the RDA?s/RIA?s for adults.

Meals are offered on a contribution basis for persons 60 years of age and older and their spouses of any age. Full cost of meals is: congregate, $5.87; carryout, $6.35; home delivered, $7.73.

Reservations for meals at the Fairfield senior center must be made one day in advance either at the center or by calling 472-4403.

Bingo is played from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday in Fairfield.
