Congregate Meals: March 26-30, 2012

The Fairfield Senior Citizen Center has listed its menu for the coming week.

Meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield senior center and at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge senior center.

In observance of Lent, fish will be offered as an alternative each Friday through April 8. Diners should let the meal site know if they prefer fish when making reservations.

Monday ? Salisbury steak with gravy, oven-brown potato, Broccoli Normandy, diced peaches, orange juice.

Tuesday ? barbecued pork, wheat bun, scalloped potatoes, peas, tropical fruit.

Wednesday ? roast pork with gravy, mashed potatoes, scalloped cabbage, banana orange cup.

Thursday ? roast turkey, mashed potatoes, sage bread stuffing, gravy, broccoli and cauliflower salad, Pumpkin Whip.

March 30 ? Hearty Beef and Bean Vegetable Soup, saltine crackers, Orange Surprise Salad, homemade wheat dinner roll, apricot half, crispy rice bar.

Milk, whole wheat and whole grain bread/muffins, and margarine are offered with all meals. The menu provides a general balanced diet that meets the RDA?s/RIA?s for adults.

Meals are offered on a contribution basis for persons 60 years of age and older and their spouses of any age. Full cost of meals is: congregate, $5.87; carry-out, $6.35; home delivered, $7.73.

Reservations for meals at the Fairfield senior center must be made one day in advance either at the center or by calling 472-4403.

Bingo is played from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday in Fairfield.
