Congregate Meals: Oct. 14-18, 2013

The Fairfield Senior Citizen Center has listed its menu for the coming week.

Meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield senior center and at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge senior center.

Monday ? pork cutlet, scalloped potatoes, Brussels sprouts, Blushing Pears.

Tuesday ? chili with beans, sweet and sour coleslaw, cereal muffin, strawberry and banana.

Wednesday ? glazed ham ball, baked potato, sour cream, broccoli, peach crisp.

Thursday ?no noon meal served; Senior Night Out: sub sandwich, three-bean salad, chips, orange applesauce, rice crispy bar.

Oct. 18 ? beef patty, wheat hamburger bun, potato wedge, sliced carrots, Ambrosia Salad, orange juice.

Milk, whole-wheat and whole-grain bread or muffins and margarine are offered with all meals.

The menu provides a general balanced diet that meets the RDA?s/RIA?s for adults.

Frozen or shelf-stable meals are available for evenings, weekends and holidays.

Meals are offered on a contribution basis. For a person 60 years old or older and his or her spouse of any age, the suggested contribution is $3.50. The suggested contributions are: $3.75 for a carryout meal and $4 for a home-delivered meal.

An individual younger than 60 must pay the full cost of the meal; the cost is posted at the meal site.

Reservations for meals at the Fairfield senior center must be made one day in advance either at the center or by calling 472-4403.
