The Henry County Conservation Department will host a mussel program on Aug. 17, at 10 a.m. at the Oakland Mills Nature Center. Jacklyn Gautsch, Wetlands and Shallow Lake Monitoring DNR biologist, will give a mussel presentation in the nature center classroom. Afterward, those who wish to participate are invited on a paddling adventure on the Skunk River, weather permitting.
Preregistration and signed waiver is required by Aug. 16 for the canoeing portion only and both can be found at www.mycountyparks.com, Henry County, Events. Bring drinks and your lunch if you are canoeing. Canoes, lifejackets, and paddles are provided. All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate. There is a limit of four canoes with a maximum of three people per canoe. This is a free program.
